《ACE COMBAT》為一飛行射擊遊戲系列，玩家將化身王牌駕駛員，在將天空描繪得近乎真實的空間中，體驗操作戰鬥機360度自由翱翔，以及自行判斷戰況來擊墜、摧毀敵機的快感，並在克服眾多困難局面後獲得成為英雄的成就感。
自1995年《ACE COMBAT》發售以來，已陸續推出許多續作。最新作《ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN》銷量超過600萬套，系列總銷量則超過2000萬套。
每部《ACE COMBAT》的系列作品※都描述了一個完整的故事，但系列是以名為「Strangereal」的虛構世界為共同的舞台，上演氣勢磅礡的歷史劇。在此將介紹這段歷史的一部分。※系列中也包含非以Strangereal世界為舞台的作品
