《ACE COMBAT》为一飞行射击游戏系列，玩家将化身王牌驾驶员，在将天空描绘得近乎真实的空间中，体验操作战斗机360度自由翱翔，以及自行判断战况来击坠、摧毁敌机的快感，并在克服众多困难局面后获得成为英雄的成就感。
自1995年《ACE COMBAT》发售以来，已陆续推出许多续作。最新作《ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN》销量超过600万份，系列总销量则超过2000万份。
每部《ACE COMBAT》的系列作品※都描述了一个完整的故事，但系列是以名为＂Strangereal＂的虚构世界为共同的舞台，上演气势磅礡的历史剧。在此将介绍这段历史的一部分。※系列中也包含非以Strangereal世界为舞台的作品
