In the first Ace Combat game, the player leads a mercenary squadron created to break open a stalemate and wipe out a terrorist organization.
This title built the foundation for the series: soaring through the sky, shooting down one foe after another in an arcade-style, flight shooting.

In the second entry of the Ace Combat series, you play as a member of the Scarface Squadron, an elite Special Operations Unit made up of mercenaries tasked with shutting down a coup which has taken control of the central government.

New features added include a ranking system and unlockable secret missions, increasing the scope of the game. We also saw the introduction of medals and replays, which are now series staples.

The electrosphere - an information network containing limitless possibilities. Only you can decide what kind of future it will bring.

In the near future, multinational corporations have essentially replaced nation states. This game features a branching storyline that changes based on which faction the player chooses to join, between the UPEO (Universal Peace Enforcement Organization), GR (General Resource, Ltd.), and Neucom Inc.

The game system saw massive upgrades as well, as you can now select weapons and ranks are given to you after clearing missions. This expanded the strategic aspects of the series and increased replayability.
The third game also heavy improvements to the story. An animated short, Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere Mission 00, which details the events leading up to the story was released alongside this title.

It's changing everything again.

On the Usean continent, the balance of power between the superpower Erusea and the smaller countries is thrown into chaos when the asteroid Ulysses strikes. Erusea uses this opportunity to invade their neighbors, nearly conquering the entire continent, save for a small section of the continent's eastern coast. The other nations organize under the banner of the ISAF (Independent State Allied Forces), and the player joins them as a member of Mobius Squadron.

The fourth entry in the series, this title enjoyed several massive upgrades from the last. The script was penned by award-winning film director Sunao Katabuchi, while the game's visuals improved drastically after moving to PlayStation 2 hardware. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force even assisted in obtaining authentic engine sounds from aircraft.

Nothing Else Comes Close

On September 23, 2010, the Osean Air Defense Force 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron, the "Wardogs", engages a squadron of unidentified fighter craft near Sand Island, a remote island located in the Ceres Ocean between Osea and Yuktobania. As the country goes into high alert, the player, alongside squadmates Captain Bartlett, 2nd Lieutenant Nagase, and 2nd Lieutenant Davenport, become entangled in a conflict with an outcome no one can predict.
For the first time in the series, the player is given freedom to choose your own squadron aircraft and issue orders during missions. Like the previous title, the Campaign Mode offers players an artfully crafted story by director Sunao Katabuchi. This title also offers a more simplified game experience through Arcade Mode, where players must shoot down enemy craft within the given time limit.

New Blood, New Battles

March 25, 1995. The Principality of Belka, a former superpower, invades the neighboring Republic of Ustio, a former territory, for their natural resources in an attempt to end the economic crisis afflicting their country. With nearly all of its territory captured in a matter of days, the Ustian government reforms its 6th Air Division into a battalion of foreign mercenaries. The player assumes the role of a pilot in the 66th Air Force Unit's Galm Team, where they fly alongside a pilot with the moniker “Solo Wing Pixy.”

The Dawn of a New Chronicle.

On the southern tip of South Osea lies the Federal Republic of Aurelia, a pacifist nation that knows no strife. Their peaceful way of life is shattered when the neighboring Democratic Republic of Leasath invades, fresh off a civil war. Aurelia is overwhelmed and nearly conquered, but it won't go down without a fight. The remaining forces have assembled at Aubrey Base, in remote southwestern Aurelia. Gryphus Squadron, consisting of the survivors of Aurelia's air force, take to the skies, determined to strike back against the invading forces.

The Strategic AI System in this game allows players to choose the order they complete missions for the first time in the series, and gives players new missions according to their choices. This game also includes a 4-player multiplayer mode.

The Next Generation of Aces

Sixteen years after the impact of the asteroid "Ulysses", two nations lead very different fates. The Republic of Emmeria escaped relatively unharmed and is enjoying a period of economic recovery, but the Federation of Estovakia is experiencing economic collapse and civil war. The story begins with a massive number of Estovakian military craft suddenly appearing in the skies over Emmeria's thriving capital Gracemeria. The player, a member of Garuda Team, the 28th Tactical Fighter Squadron of the Emmerian Air Force's 8th Air Division, becomes entangled in a conflict with the ace of a squadron of red Estovakian fighters as the war continues to escalate.

Missions are composed of multiple, simultaneous operations in the Dynamic Mission System, capturing the feeling of two large forces fighting at war. This game also features online multiplayer for the first time in the series, both co-op and competitive.

Unite as one, fly over reality.

The world is scarred by financial crisis. The player, callsign "Antares", is an employee of the private military company Martinez Security, and encounters a mysterious armed force while on a joint training exercise.

Set in the real world, this Ace Combat title features an advanced version of the competitive multiplayer featured in its predecessor, Ace Combat X, allowing up to eight players.

Make Metal Bleed

The year is 2015. Violent anti-establishment movements have broken out all across Africa, and local governments have turned to the UN for assistance. Lieutenant colonel William Bishop of the USAF leads his Warwolf Squadron on a cleanup mission in the war torn continent. The conflict was expected to remain in deadlock, but new intel regarding a WMD that the rebels have developed causes a massive shift in the tides of war.

This title offers unique control schemes, including Dogfight Mode, Air Strike Mode, and counter-maneuvers, to respond to different mission situations.

Carving New Trails into the Skies.

Osea and Yuktobania, the two superpowers of the Usean continent, have overcome a long history of conflict and are attempting to sign off on a treaty to form the Usean alliance, finally bringing peace to the world. But this plan is derailed when many of the smaller Usean nations, fearing a loss of sovereignty to the superpowers, start a coup d'etat which engulfs the entire continent in the flames of war. As the entire continent falls under rebel control, the Usean Alliance calls forth a group of volunteer airmen and forms the special operation team, dubbed the "Scarface Squadron", and tasks them with a counterattack on the rebel forces.

This title is a reimagination of the setting from the first two games in the series. It features the Action Maneuver system where players build a gauge by tailing enemies. When filled, this gauge can be used to pull off special maneuvers.

The sky is yours. Aces come to realize you as the Ace.

The first free-to-play title in the series, the game launched on May 20, 2014.(Service ended on March 31, 2018.)

Campaign Mode featured a single-player experience with an original story, as well as Online Co-Op Missions, in which players could form squadrons together to take on NPC enemies.

The world in Campaign Mode was a blend of Strangereal and the real world. Players stepped into the boots of Reaper, a rookie pilot working for Arrows Air Defense and Security.

Hope, salvation, pain, fear. The sky is not connected.

Tensions are high between the Osean Federation and the Kingdom of Erusea, culminating in a declaration of war from Erusea in 2019, who accuses Osea of massive overreach in their joint international projects. As an answer to Osea's military superiority, Erusea deploys countless unmanned drones, which push the Osean forces all the way to Usea's eastern coast. The story depicts the hopes, dreams, and ambitions of multiple different squadrons as they take to the skies.
This title's concept is to "revolutionize the sky". Special care was taken to detail the vast sea of clouds and the lush scenery on the ground. This title offers the most immersive experience in the series yet.
